S H A D O W W A R R I O R VER 1.2 ================================Author Info=================================== Title : Mewata File Name : Mewata.zip Date : November 27,1997 Author : John Carto E-Mail address : jcarto@shaw.wave.ca Nick on IRC : Name on Ten : Name on kali : Other Screen Names : Thanks to my beta testers: Keith, Bob, Tim, Peter Description For Web Site Please keep this SMALL : Rescue Lani from Zilla's mountain castle. Only the very best Shadow Warriors need bother to try. Description for Viewers : Lani has been kidnapped and taken high into the moutains to Zilla's castle. The castle is booby trapped and guarded by all of Zilla's minions. Danger lurks around every corner. The keys to unlock the path to your doom will not be easy to achieve. Don't go un-prepared into Zilla's dugeon cavern or death will surely find you. The level is VERY challenging, and will require you to explore a lot to find they keys you need. Leave no nook unexplored. I stuck to the theme pretty much religiously which meant not using a number of the newer features of the engine, and not using flourescent lights etc. The only thing I can think of that might have strayed from the theme is a swimming pool, but I just had to have it. Even the Greeks had swimming pools! There are the following features: Room over Room (a see through swimming area), underwater tunnels, Stone elevators The new Spring board feature, Warp teleporting, Actor Spawns, Sounds, some use of Lighting, rotating sectors, and ladders. I do believe that all the weapons are here, but not quite all the Monsters, although I am sure you won't find that a problem. Once again the map turned out larger than it probably should be. Wangbang play should probably be kept inside the castle boundries. Watch your Backs! and Have Fun!. Files included : Mewata.map, Mewata.txt, Mewata.jpg Other Notes : This map was inspired by the Mewata Armouries in Calgary Alberta. It is an historic landmark built for the Canadian Forces. The following is the best description I could find for it's birth. THE BIRTH OF A REGIMENT-THE TRANSITION PERIOD At the end of the First World War, the battle-hardened battalions of the Canadian Expeditionary Force were disbanded and the militia was re-organized in the Dominion. On March 15, 1920, a new infantry unit, the Calgary Regiment, which was comprised of two active battalions, was authorised to replace the old 103rd Calgary Rifles. On September 15, 1921, the first battalion of the new regiment was converted to a Highland (kilted) unit-the Calgary Highlanders were born. The first Commanding Officer of the regiment was Lt.Col. Harold F. McDonald, a veteran of the First World War. The creation of a Highland regiment in Calgary was largely due to the efforts of the Honourable Richard B. Bennett, a member of Parliament in the city, and future Prime Minister of Canada. Bennett was also to become the new regiment's first Honourary Colonel. The regiment, whose headquarters was the recently completed Mewata Armouries on 11th Street West, perpetuated the memory of the 10th Battalion and carried their hard-won Battle Honours. A regimental tradition, which was begun during these early years and continues to the present day, is the annual church parade in April to commemorate the battle of St. Julien. There is something goofy about how the sprites work. Walking across works fine but walking lengthwise along the centre beams allows players to fall through in spots. Getting up onto the rafters was only allowed in the WangBang play anyways. Frame rate is a bit low in the large open room, but I could not bring myself to give up any of the sprites in there. Please let me know if you find any troublesome bugs? ** Copyright / Permissions ** Authors May NOT use Mewata.map as a base to build additional levels.
