No deathmatch : Yes!! Yes!! difficulty settings : Sure.. I guess. demos replaced : None new graphics : Yes - about 90% are new textures from QED and some various pictures I found on my hd. new sounds : No - I don't know how to do that yet. new monsters/weapons : No new QuakeC : No music : CD track 2 (meant to go with the new Skinny Puppy) * construction * base : new level from scratch editor(s) used : Worldcraft 1.1 build time : One weekend number of brushes : 288 compile time : On a P166 w/ 32 Megs RAM QBSP : 82 sec Light -extra: 73 sec VIS -level 4: 423 sec known Bugs : Brush with duplicate planes and a leak somewhere but there are no slowdowns or grey areas anywhere, so I forgot about it. * installation * Make a directory under the \QUAKE\ID1 directory called MAPS. Put the included DAPLANET.BSP file in there. Then run: quake +map daplanet.bsp -sspeed 22050 The -sspeed 22050 mixes the sound at a higher sampling rate. Sounds a whole lot cleaner than 11khz. Use it. Tell me more: What the hell for? Grab about 15 of your friends you want to kill and go play Planet NiN!! ==================================================================== * Credits * - id Software - VekT0r for starting the idea for a new level. (He wanted a good camping spot) :) - All the other NiNvaderz for saying "FINISHED THE LEVEL YET?!@#" - Ben Morris for creating such a fine editor. I just need to buy it now. - Matthew Tagliaferri, creator of Qed, for the .WAD file. I know I ripped all of the textures out of it. I feel kinda lame. Sorry if this offends you in any way. Please email if it does and I'll be sure to change it in future versions. * Software * The following programs were used in the development of this level: - WorldCraft 1.1 (Noooo it's not registered.. sheesh) - MipDip - NewWad - QBSP, VIS, & LIGHT - Adobe Photoshop 4.0 - LviewPro - MS-DOS edit ===================================================================== * Other information * This is my first public release, and WorldCraft is THE BEST editor out there, as far as I'm concerned. I've made about thirty other maps that really sucked, but all of them got me higher and higher with WorldCraft. This editor kicks ass. The volcano was a quick thought. If I wouldn't have popped that zit on my neck, it probably wouldn't be there. I also added in an old level that we destroyed each other on (the big room with nothing but weapons in it) and therefore gave the fighting someplace to go. Although, a deathmatch in that crater terrain would be cool. * secrets * Absolutely none. ===================================================================== * legal stuff * This level is copyright 1997 by Ben Caston.
