================================================================ Title : Blood ('Nuff said) 13/1/97 (Happy New year) Filename : KYSBLOOD.BSP (All my levels have KYS at the beginning.) Author : Kayos Email Address : steve@hmsg.gwent.sch.uk Description : Well, in one of my idle "can't be fucked to get out of this damn comfy chair", I picked up PC-Zone (The best computer mag in existence), and discovered that not only do they have a fetish for Quake, but they also have a fetish for Cakes. And there was a small request for a cake-related Quake level. Although I left the internet, and hence the Quake scene, this was something I needed to do. So here it is. A deathmatch level, with cakes. Not a lot of them.. I kinda lost the plot and got more concerned with making a damn good level than the cake bit, and hopefully succeeded. * STOP PRESS * There are no cakes. Sorry PC-Zone. I have also done KYSENTRY, KYSENTY2, KYSENTY3 and KYSDEATH. I even had a web page at one time.*sniff* Additional Credits to : ID Software, for Quake Chris Cartello for Quest, which is now the best editor even more than it was b4.. (BSP? eurgh.. ;) ================================================================ * Play Information * Level Name : Blood Single Player : Well, it has an exit. Cooperative 2-4 Player : Nope.. Deathmatch 1-4 Player : Of course. I even limited myself on brush count in some rooms so it was fast to play... Difficulty Settings : No. Anything else new : One texture. The obligatory legal one. Cheers for that Actura. (Bugger. Now I've got to wash my mouth out with soap.) Comments : its all off-setted and scaled, all textured right, a great deathmatch level playtested loads, blablabla... and I'll be bringing out a single player level soon. Rest assured that it will be impossible, and only the creme de la creme of quake players will do it without cheating on nightmare. Well, if u don't set a challenge than tell me an internet player that plays on his own? ;) ================================================================ * Construction * Base : A depressingly black screen. Build Time : coupla days. but don't let that fool u into thinking its easy... Qbsp-time : 456secs Vis-time (-level 4) : 16557secs Light-time (-extra) : 314secs On a Pentium 100 running win95 with 32megs edo ram. Editor(s) used : Quest and MS-DOS Edit the best editors around... Known Bugs : Haha! none! makes a change on my part.. ;) (At time of writing... last time i said that there was. But i play tested this quite a bit with my bro.) One small one... there is one part of the lev where you can still get grey planes. Type "r_maxsurfs 1000" and "r_maxedges 1000" in the console and then reload the lev and you'll be ok. If you're that worried. Sorry bout that. Believe me it was a lot worse. I scrapped the room and started from scratch, but it was even worse so I went back to this... I think it looks better anyway. * Legal Stuff - Actura take note * You may distribute this level and include it in any deathmatch compilation etc., as long as you include my text file and give me credit. The .map may be edited and compiled for internal use, but the modified level may NOT be released without the author's expressed permission. Actura are banned from having this level on any of there smelly CDs. Any requests from them for my permission (yeah right..) will be flatly denied (bwahahaha!). * Where to get this MAP and my others * ftp.stomped.com ftp.cdrom.com * FAQ - How do i run a bsp? * copy the .bsp into a subdirectory of id1 called maps, ie c:\quake\id1\maps then run quake. go into the console by pressing the key left of the 1 key, and type in "map xxx" the .bsp extension should not be typed in, and neither the inverted commas. Now u can't go wrong... ;)
