9/5/97 ================================================================ Title : tinydm4.bsp Author : Dave Gates Email Address : davegates@davegates.com Description : Worldcraft comes with a set of pre-fab pipes, and here they are! This level looks kind of like a junkyard full of large sewer pipes, mostly arranged in a circle in the center where the good weapons are. The lighting (and the atmosphere) remind me of somewhere that kids are still playing even though it's dangerous and starting to get dark. Other Works : tinydm1 - tinydm6 (the higher the number, the better the level) Thanks to : ID Software, for games that talk straight to my id. Ben Morris for his wonderful Worldcraft. Tim Wright for the awesome arghlite. ================================================================ * Other Info * At my work, three of us play Deathmatch all the time and we can rarely find levels tiny enough for the 2-man and 3-man fragfests we enjoy. So I created a group of levels: tinydm1 - tinydm6. In these levels, you're never more than a few seconds away from a kill. Also, there are only weapons and armor. No Quad damage. No pentagram. No secrets. And no health kits! I personally don't go for the general evilness of Quake, so you won't find any of it in my levels. No crucified guys on the wall, etc. I suppose you could say that these levels generally look like they were constructed by an 8-year-old millionaire who wanted to play an elaborate game of Paintball Pursuit in his father's spare warehouse/soundstage. "Put a catwalk up there! Now make a ramp go up to it! Now a big pipe that leads from there to there. Now dig out that area and put some water in it! Now another level! More ramps!" * Play Information * Single Player : No Cooperative : No Deathmatch : Yes (2-3 players) Difficulty Settings : No New Sounds : No New Graphics : Maybe a couple textures. Sound Track : 1? Demos Replaced : None Source Included : No (available upon request) * Textures * I've used textures from quite a few texture wads, and I'm never quite sure which texture comes from which. I just load 'em all into my Worldcraft palette and insert whichever texture seems appropriate. Here are the texture wads I have in my Worldcraft palette (awesome -- every single one of them): CZTEX1.WAD (bryangw@channelzero.com) CZTEX2.WAD (bryangw@channelzero.com) GYROTEX.WAD (gyro@blarg.net) MARKSWAD.WAD (discgolf@ix.netcom.com) * Construction * Base : New level from scratch Editor(s) used : Worldcraft Known Bugs : None Brushes : not too many Construction Time : about 12 hours * Running tinydm4.bsp * (1) Place tinydm4.bsp in quake\id1\maps\ (2) Start deathmatch Quake (3) From the console, type "map tinydm4.bsp" or "changelevel tinydm4.bsp" This level may be distributed freely. Feel free to stick it on a CD-ROM or whatever. But keep my name on it in case anyone ever writes a "thank you" email.
