These files are sufficient to run an awesome QuakeWorld TeamFortress server. You do not need to install or copy any quake files although you may wish to run the server in your quake directory so it can share files if you also want to play quake. To customize the server, edit the fortress/server.cfg file and/or server.bat If you add a password to the server and want to later remove it remotely, you need to type "rcon exec nopass.cfg", because you can't type password "" remotely since the quotes are removed. The server batch files will automatically restart themselves if the server crashes or is terminated (so end the batch file if you want to end the server). To run the server on a Linux or other unix machine, make sure all the filenames are in lowercase, and download the appropriate QuakeWorld server executable from ftp://ftp.idsoftware.com/ If you want to run a regular Quake server, you will need to merge these files with your quake directory and run winquake -dedicated -game fortress For help on running a TF server, go to http://tfnewbies.gamesnet.com/tfadmin/ or http://tfconsole.clanoski.com/ The maps in this ZIP are 22 of the best TeamFortress maps as ranked by myself and others I have talked to. A few of them are less serious in nature (vplay, border1, civsaw2) and can be annoying to some. They have been vised -level 4 with transparent water and have been waterhacked so that non-GL users can also see through water (http://www.primenet.com/~splat/waterhack.zip). If you are using GL QuakeWorld, then you might want to un-waterhack the maps by running waterhack again on them, and using r_wateralpha .3 (so you can see the surface of the liquid as well as what is underneath). All the latest entity/bug fixes were obtained for the maps as well, fixing flaginfo messages, and grenade refill spam problems, for instance. So even if you already have a server set up, you will want to make sure you have these fixed-up versions of your favorite maps. The 22 maps in the distribution are: bam4 2tech4 well6 canalzon 32smooth 2mach1 rock1 canyon1 mayan3 wall navajo32 colony1 2fort5 progres2 sk_fort2 2cast2 town4 dzone21 bh1 vplay border1 civsaw2 (and a customized vote40, used to allow players to decide what map the server runs next) >V<.Sacrifice jongraehl@earthling.net http://fifth.dyn.ml.org/
