Ben Morris for Worldcraft. The Quakelab guys for their web page on Quake Map editing: http://206.12.10.240/stevefu/QuakeLab/ =================================================================== * Play Information * Single Player : Yes. Four Difficulty settings. Can be beaten on hard without SuperNails or secrets. Can be beaten on Nightmare, but it is tough. Co-op : Yes. 2 player support. Deathmatch : Yes. These are small DM maps, regardless of their SPQ sizes. Different DM architecture for each to improve and streamline play. It is good for 2 or three players. Play speed matches DM4 with 4 players (for mvroom6). I wouldn't recommend more than 5 players for DM on any of these maps. New Graphics : None. ============================================================================ * Construction * Editor(s) used : Worldcraft v1.3 registered. Worldcraft v1.5b registered. Known Bugs : Fully Beta tested for multiplayer. Extended single player tested on Normal and Hard. Build Time : Average 40 Hours of work per map. Time was spread out over about 2 months. Texture WAD used : quake101.wad, possibly some textures from Mission Pack 1 or 2. Build machine : Pentium 150, 32MB RAM, DM Tested on 166 Pentiums w/ 32MB RAM. Build Time : jhhub6 - qbsp, light extra, full vis -- time under 5 mins. gostown7 - qbsp, light extra, full vis -- time well over 3 hours, I went to bed during compiles. ;-) mvroom6 - qbsp, light extra, full vis -- time under 5 mins. ======================================================================= Installation: Extract and/or copy all the maps to your QUAKE\ID1\MAPS directory, then run Quake using the "+map" extension by typing: QUAKE +MAP jhhub6 You can also run the map by entering "MAP jhhub6" from the console. ======================================================================= Gameplay: The DM centerpiece of this set is mvroom6: The Chamber of Pain I am quite pleased with the playability of this map in single and DM modes. Beginners and keyboarders seem quite satisfied with their skill at this map, but there's still plenty of opportunity for rocket jumps, etc... This map is deliberately small to be suitable for 2 or 3 player DM. The single player component was added during construction because the heat walls needed to be lit in a room underneath the main play aera. ========================================================================= Other info: Jhhub6 - The Unholy Shrine - was started out of a need to create a start map/skill select for mvroom6. Initially I just threw it together in five minutes, but after completing gostown7, I wanted to make it a little nicer. I upgraded the quality of the map in one night over the course of about 8 hours. It is still too small for real DM play but far far nicer than it was in its rudimentary form. Gostown7 - The Hockey Arena was my third map. I wanted to see how big I could build a level. I decided that I should close it up when map size got to be about 1.9Meg. No quake C is used for the ice rink. Mvroom6 - The Chamber of Pain was my second map. I wanted to make a really fun, balanced DM map for players on my local LAN. My first map was The Gibpit, which was suitable only for DM experienced players + mousers. (It required rocket jumps for survival). It should be available at Mediascape's home page: www.mediascape.ca Look for the clan link, then levels. If you like my map then drop me a line, maybe you're looking for a level designer ;-). ======================================================================= Copyright/Permission: This map contains textures and artwork which are the property of id Software.
