Also Raymond Chi for LMPUTIL and creators of TED and Paint Shop Pro. ================================================================ * Play Information * Episode and Level # : Levels 1 through to 20 Single Player : Yes Cooperative 2-4 Player : Yes 4 player. Excellent CO-OP play. Deathmatch 2-4 Player : All, But only a few would be good for DEATHMATCH. Difficulty Settings : Most levels. New Sounds : No New Graphics : Yes. New Music : Yes. Demos Replaced : All, if Doom bombs out with an error when the demo starts, you dont have version 1.9. Start a game or load one before the demo comes on, and UPGRADE! * Construction * Base : All levels from scratch. Music from various wads. New sky from darkcvnt.wad Build Time : I dont know. I started making the levels in October 1994 and spent hours. In March 1995 I finished DKSHRINE 1 and released it. I then started making more in November 1995, After making a few I got the idea of improving DKSHRINE and adding 9 new ones to make a new improved version. Editor(s) used : WADED VER 1.42, DCK 2.2, WADCAT, NWT TED v1.2, Zennode, RMB, Paint Shop Pro 3 Known Bugs : No way jose! The old version of DKSHRINE did have bugs I didn't pick up on till later, mainly due to the node builder in WADED. A new version of WADED is out which would have solved that problem. * Copyright / Permissions * Authors NOT use the levels as a base to build thier own, and may NOT alter the wad. Authors are allowed to extract the music and the new sky for thier own wad. You may distribute this wad, with all the files unaltered. * Other * STORY You have heard rumours about a lost industrial base, but never believed them. You were told the once in 1984 demonic noises could be heard out of a structure, and demons took over and captured the base. On your way back to earth you run into the base, and you have to get through and destroy the last remains of the demon population. Unfortuantely you discover it is in two parts, one somewhere between earth and hell, the other god knows where, but you'll find out. Load the patch, it has the story line. THE LEVELS. The levels are hard but quite playable with heaps of action. The end is the shrine, you work out how to destroy it. It will be hard! You must have played Doom 2 before to get through this. They are hard and you will need you use the old grey matter, or whatever hasn't been destroyed so far to get through. Some places may seem to difficult that you will think that you will never get through. Simply use every tactic to your advantage and you should be succesful. Remember, a good player doesn't just have good aim and movement skills, a good player uses everything to his/her advantage. *FINAL * Thanks for getting this. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. P.S. The patch doesn't load automatically. You have to do it yourself using DeHackEd version 3.0 or later. THE FILES DKSHRINE.TXT This file. DKSHRINE.BAT The file you run to run the shrine. You can use command line parameters, eg DKSHRIND.BAT Same as above, but uses DOOMHACK.EXE, for those that are using the patch. You have to load the patch yourself, the BAT file does not do it for you. DKSHRINE -warp 11 -record demo2 DMAO.EXE Eliminates the need to hit enter when the message appears telling you there has been an alteration. DKSHRINE.WAD The wad. It should be 2609577 bytes. DKSHRINE.DEH Dehacked patch. Replaces text and a graphic. If you have a version of DeHackEd that can load the patch, I strongly recommend you do so and run DKSHRIND.BAT HELP ME !! If the upgrade patches don't work with your version of DOOM II (1.666), then you probably have a pirate version, which CANNOT be upgraded. Q: Why do I die when I start level 12 ? A: This is deliberate. You are supposed to start from scratch. Might sound harsh but you get all your weapons back real soon anyway. Q: I get stuck on a level, there seems to be no way out. A: Look for arrows, health flasks of armour in the shape of an arrow. This will lead you to a hidden switch, teleporter of hidden lift. Q: How do I destroy the Shrine? A: In the same waay you finish level 30 of Doom II. That is all I can say. Just look for obvoius places to shoot rockets at. It isn't very hard. I've rambled on enough.........
