Description | Thanks for downloading Z-Arena. Screenshots have been included with this file, take a look at them to see what I mean. Meanwhile here's how to set up GZDoom: >>Options -->>OpenGL Options -->>Sector Lightmode: set to [Doom] >>Options -->>OpenGL Options -->>Ambient Light Level: set to 0 (far left max) >>Options -->>OpenGL Options -->>Dynamic Light Options -->>Light Intensity: set to 255 (far right max) >>Options -->>OpenGL Options -->>Dynamic Light Options -->>Light Intensity: set to 127 (center) Set brightness and contrast settings as necessary. Adjust GL settings for max quality. For in-game tips, press F1. To view development notes on each map, press 'N' in game. This is really only useful if you're running the map in single player mode to get a closer look at the map. To make playing easier (for GZDoom 1.1.4), create a zarena.bat file with the following text: gzdoom.exe
-FILE [ZDoom Directory Path]ZARENA.wad -DEATHMATCH -SKILL 1 +SET DMFLAGS
540676 +SET DMFLAGS2 2 The line above also enables the weapons drop flag, so each time a player dies they drop whatever weapon they are carrying at the point of death. Plus, larger power-ups (such as invisibility) respawn. There are some issues with the Cajun Bot with regards to 3D Floors, especially Map17 and the bots tendency to avoid crossing damaging sectors is a real pain in the bum. |
Credits | Level Design: Dave Billing Textures: Ogro Textures by François-Xavier Delmotte (converted by Derek McDonald), Quake & Quake II by id Software (converted by Derek McDonald), title pic, title screen, credits screen, cloud textures, help screen and intermission pic by Dave Billing. Additional skybox art by Mighty Pete and from Quake 3: Arena. DECORATE powerups by the good people at the ZDoom wiki. Special Thanks to id Software for creating without a doubt one of the finest video games ever made, and the best shoot 'em up ever. It may be old, but its still one of the few decent shoot 'em ups out there. I would also like to thank Randy Heit for ZDoom, and Graf Zahl for GZDoom.

Other Levels by Author | Final Doom: The Plutonia Experiment Hell Awaits Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition Operation Blitzkrieg (+ 4 DM Maps)* "House and Bar" (I didn't bother with titles then) Maybe one or two others I've forgotten about Redneck Rampage Cripple Creek (+ 3 DM Maps)* Shadow Warrior: Wanton Destruction Bento Restaurant *No thanks to Geocities and my own absent mindedness, these files were wiped from my Geocities account when it was closed down due to lack of visitors to my page (that's what I'm assuming anyway). To make matters worse the disk that I backed them up on was lost. If anybody out there has either file on their computer (fat chance considering its been 4 or 5 years since I uploaded them) could you please send me an email. I released them under the alias Dave Nukem (dumb idea using such an alias since I wasn't the only one using it) and Operation Blitzkrieg came in an self-extracting executable file. Thanks.
