====================================================================== Archive Maintainer : The original version contained an old binary DeHackEd patch for Doom II v1.666, and even after converting the patch, the game would not work with any of the source ports, due to a problem with the structure of the wads. This version has been updated for compat- ability with Doom II v1.9 and DeHackEd v3.1 (Patch Format 6), and any source port with DeHackEd and sprite support - such as: Boom, PrBoom, MBF, SMMU, PrjDoom, JDP, ZDoom, Legacy, GLboom, ZDoomGL, etc. Incidently, the original 3 wads were over 1.2MB, and full of wasted space. This single wad update is only 0.54MB - less than half! Update to : ./idgames/levels/doom2/m-o/mike2.zip Advanced engine needed : No Primary purpose : Single+Coop play ====================================================================== This is an updated version of MIKE2.ZIP Original author : Mike McCollum mccollum@nauticom.net Version 'B' Update : Sparky of KISS Software kellm@eisa.net.au Mods made by Sparky of KISS Software: - converted the DeHackEd patch from binary format (Doom2 v1.666 with DeHackEd v2.2) to text format (Doom2 v1.9 with DeHackEd v3.1). - combined the three wad files (map, music and graphics) into a single wad and sorted the resources between the correct start/end markers (this change enabled MIKE2B to be played with many Source Ports). - the original wads were full of wasted space, so rebuilding the wad reduced the size from 1.2MB to only 0.54MB - less than half !!! - converted the three internal lmp demos to Doom II v1.9. The demos tested okay with a patched 'Plain Vanilla' Doom II v1.9. They may or may not work with your source port of choice. Note that the demos are not very good. All three are only short, and the player is killed near the start in each one. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Play with doom2.exe ------------------- To install MIKE2B for use with 'Plain Vanilla' Doom II, you need to: a) Firstly, create a replacement exe file (doomhack.exe) using mike2b.deh and DeHackEd v3.1. For example: dehacked -load mike2b.deh b) Secondly, add the extra sprite graphics to mike2b.wad using a program such as DeuSF, WinTex, NWT, etc. For example: deusf -as mike2b.wad c) Once patched, play the game with: doomhack -file mike2b.wad Play with a Doom Source Port ---------------------------- A much better option is to use a Doom Source Port that can import DeHackEd patches and pwads containing sprite graphics, such as: Boom, PrBoom, MBF, SMMU, PrjDoom, JDP, ZDoom, Legacy, etc. Patching is not required with these source ports, just use the files as-is. For example: boom -deh mike2b -file mike2b legacy -deh mike2b.deh -file mike2b.wad The original text file follows: ====================================================================== Title : Mike2.wad for Doom2 Filename : MIKE2.WAD Author : Mike McCollum Email Address : mccollum@nauticom.net Web Page URL : http://www.nauticom.net/www/mccollum Misc Author Info : I am now a junior at Hampton High School and I have my own web page and a doom page Description : A huge butt-kicking wad with all kinds of new junk.
