Author Info :student from germany Please e-mail with your comments. Description :A three-level-episode called "Night and Day" plus three bonus maps for single player. Map01: Night - gloomy and depressing Map02: Day - bright and pleasant Map03: Dusk - an epilogue Map04 - Map06: bonus maps Additional Credits to :Ben Morris for DCK Special Thanks to :everyone who still plays Doom =========================================================================== * Play Information * Game : Doom2 Episode and Level # : Map01 - Map06 Single Player : YES, tested on UV Cooperative 2-4 Player : Untested, but the starts are there. The end of Map03 will probably cause problems in coop. Deathmatch 2-4 Player : No, except for Map06 (untested) Difficulty Settings : Yes New Sounds : No New Graphics : No New Music : No Demos Replaced : None * Construction * Base : new levels from scratch Editor(s) used : DCK v3.61 Known Bugs : None that affect gameplay: When I quit the game, my computer reboots automatically because of "memory error" or something. It only occurs when I did save Map02 during the game (this is the biggest map in the WAD). It seems like a minor bug to me, but of course I cannot _guarantee_ that you won't encounter other problems, so use this WAD on your own risk. Besides, torches stop flickering after I load a game. I suppose this is a "regular" doom bug that I never noticed before. If you find any other bugs, please let me know. Build time : sehr lang =========================================================================== * Night and Day - the story * You are no longer a space marine. You retired, studied and became an expert on extraterrestrial archaeology. Three weeks ago you got an invitation by some scientists who are examining a strange artifact found during the construction of the first base on Sillimania, a planet that is to be populated in the near future. No intelligent life forms were found on Sillimania, so it is a mystery who created the slender white tower that was buried in the planet's dust for countless centuries. You were very interested and accepted the invitation. Now, after three weeks, the space shuttle is hovering above the landing platform. It sets you down and flies away. You wonder why there's no welcome arranged for you. You approach the personnel who supervised your arrival from a nearby control room. If you only knew what has happened in the meantime... =========================================================================== * More information * >>> about "Night and Day" (Map01 - Map03) ========================================= Secrets: There are secrets of different kinds. Some can be detected only on the automap, others cannot be seen on the map even if you have the computer area map. Some are the usual This-could-be-a-secret- door-secrets, others are not. Keep in mind that all areas of the map are accessible somehow. Look at your automap and consider where a secret passage could be expected. There are no secrets where you have to find a secret teleporter to get in, so if you suppose a secret area in the north-east corner of the map, you don't have to search in the south-west for the entrance. Ammo and health: In the dark outdoor areas of Map01, goodies are always located near the walls. You should carry the weapons and ammo collected in Map01 over to Map02, the levels were designed to be played this way. However, it is possible to play Map02 and Map03 starting only with your pistol (if you're looking for a challenge, make it so). Switches: In these levels there are some switches that trigger an out-of- sight action, a nearby door or a nearby elevator. Try to find out what those "lonely" switches do, it could be important! If you find two switches of the same kind side by side in Map01, then one switch will open a door, the other will close it. In these levels there are no switches triggered by shooting, so don't waste your ammo. and finally: It is not possible to get stuck anywhere in these levels. Unfortunately, I had no playtesters for these levels. I've tested this WAD several times in three different ways: the three levels one after another with 100% kills, items and secrets, the three levels one after another with 0% secrets and then Map02 and Map03 starting only with pistol with 0% secrets. So, I think it should be possible for you to get through these levels even if you don't find all of the secrets or if you don't pick up all of the ammo lying around. >>> about the bonus maps (Map04 - Map06) ======================================== If you want to play them as I intended, start armed only with pistol. Map04 is a maze built around a big blood pump. It's not a great level, but there are some interesting features. Map05 is a small castle. Lots of enemies, lots of ammo, lots of health, in other words: lots of fun :-) Map06 is an early version of Cocta.wad. Will you find the secret? =========================================================================== * Other WAD-files by author * -DEADSOIL.WAD my first WAD, small and funny (single player and DM) -IVORY.WAD my first big WAD, a bit clumsy; it's so big that you can't save it unless you use BOOM (single/DM) -COCTA.WAD people seem to like this one (single/DM) -NOREST.WAD some nice architecture (single) -NOREST2.WAD cool storyline (single) -OBSIDIAN.WAD three-level-episode (single) =========================================================================== * Copyright / Permissions * Authors may not use this level as a base to build additional levels without my permission.
