================================================================ Title : Cursed Twilight : Gardens (32 version) Filename : ctgard32.bsp Author : Paul Bernat (X-Gurgeh) Email Address : pbernat@ikroh.u-net.com Web Address : www.ikroh.u-net.com What's New : You might have tried a previous version of this level, ctgard.bsp. This version corrects a few (minor) bugs, has 32 DM starts (evenly distributed between ground and upper levels) and most importantly the item placement has been revamped (fewer bonus items more evenly spread out) Description : A pure DM level designed for 6 or more players or clan games. The level has a rough symmetry with 4 "circular" gardens in each corner and a rectangular garden in the centre. There's water, traps, teleports, etc. And it's dark too. Number of Players : There are 32 DM starts, but from playtesting it seems best with six (for the thoughtful) to twenty (for the frantic). typically 6 players = 3 gibs / minute each 14 players = 4 gibs / minute each Less than 6 can leave you looking for gibs. More than twenty I would guess to be pure mayhem but I've not tested it with more than twenty (my test server struggles with a lot of Reaper's) so you tell me ;-) Design Background : Most of the interconnecting passages are twisty. This is to limit what you can see from any given point, cutting down on 'net bandwidth. Likewise none of the rooms are really big and all are designed to limit what you can see. Bonus items are either easy to get but in an exposed location (e.g. Quad in the centre garden) or at the "edge" of the level, or require some effort to reach. With a one exception none are really difficult to reach - this level is meant for 'net play after all and lag is a bitch. Dynamic lighting kept to a minimum. There are usually 3 or more entrances to each location. This makes guarding an area difficult, and makes encounters between players more likely. Hints : There is one yellow and one red suit of armour. There are two rings of invisibility. There are two of every weapon in this level (more than two super-shotguns). Don't forget to rocket jump. Additional Credits to : ID Software, for Quake Thred creator Jonathan Mavor Worldcraft creator Ben Morris Some guy whose name I forgot (sorry) for the whirlpool idea. Testers : Me, Bagpuss and some Reaper bots ;) ================================================================ * Play Information * OS : DOS/WIN Level Name : Cursed Twilight: Gardens Single Player : no Cooperative 2-4 Player : no Deathmatch Player : yes Difficulty Settings : no * Construction * Base : Original ctgard, which was a new level from scratch Editor(s) used : Thred mainly, Worldcraft for textures, and finally WordPad Known Bugs : None. * Legal Stuff * You may distribute this level for free, as long as you include my text file and give me credit.
