-The 5th Level- by Kevin Rogers (pypkr@bath.ac.uk) 18th May 1998 Introduction ============ This is my first foray into Quake level editing. It has been an interesting challenge to get it completed. I'll port it to Quake II at some point in the future if anybody is interested. In some places the frame rate can drop, but I think it is worth it. You might have to consider dropping the resolution you are playing in to get better performance. Installation Instructions ========================= Make a new directory in your quake directory called 'Level5'. Extract the file 'pak0.pak' from the zip file and copy it into this directory, i.e. if your quake directory is e:\games\quake, unzip pak0.pak to, e:\game\quake\level5 Switch to your main quake directory, i.e. for me, e:\games\quake Run your flavour of quake (glquake, winquake or quake) with the extension '-game level5', i.e. for normal quake, quake -game level5 Story ===== It's late Friday afternoon. You can feel your eyes getting heavy, before you realise it's dark outside and 8 hours have slipped past. You get up to try and leave the building, but security have been around and locked the exits from the building. You turn around to figure out what to do, just in time to see the world go hazy. Your vision clears to reveal a subtly different world, while the building seems the same. You can hear grunts and moans of beings you've never before encountered drifting down the stairs, it must have been the high scientific content in the building that drew them here. A shotgun is lying on the floor in front of you, loaded with 25 shells. Picking it up, you get ready to go back up to level 5 to get the key for the exit...
