MP 40.
This is Germany's standard sub-machine gun, one of the best of the war. It fired the 9mm Parabellum round from a 32 round magazine, it was a highly prized weapon and it was much respected by all the Allied forces. Light weight and high rate of fire makes this an ideal weapon for playery on the move who expect close combat.
P-38.
One of the best pistols in the world. It fires the 9mm round, has an 8 round magazine and can be safely carried with a round in the champer and the safety off. This pistol was still in use by the German army in the 1980's.
MG42.
The MG 42 was Germany's standard general purpose machine gun from 1942 onwards.
It had a rate of fire of 1200 rounds per minute and was feared by allied forces for its power, reliability and above all, deadly rate of fire. It fires the standard 7.92mm Mauser rifle cartridge. The MG42 is perfect for laying down heavy cover or surpression fire as it can stop an advancing group instantly. Close combat should be avoided however.
MP44.
The first true assault rifle. The MP 44 revolutionized how the infatryman fights, it fired the 7.92mm Kurz round, this was only 33mm long as opposed to the 57mm Mauser Rifle round, but it was designed to be cheaper and to permit controllable automatic fire. Few were made however and the Russians latter copied the rifle and cartridge to make the AK 47 series rifle still in front line service to this very day in some countries.
Stielgranate 35.
The standard german hand grenade, did not give off shrapnel but used explosive force to cause damage, one arms it by unscrewing the cap on bottom and pull the beed on the bottom.
Gewerh 43.
The Gewerh 43 was Germany's second semi-automatic rifle, it had a 10 round datacheble magazine and was designed after Russian Tokarev SVT 40 rifles were captured in the early years of the invasion. The German's mounted scopes on most of them and used them as sniper rifles.
The Soviet Mosin-Nagant is a good reliable rifle similar to the Mauser 98k, it fires the standard Russian 7.62mm X 54mm round that is still in use today with many Ex-Soviet allies. It is reloaded like the Mauser and also has a 5 round magazine like the Mauser.
PPSH 41.
The PPSH 41 is the Soviets most popular weapon during the war, it was easy to use, accurate at short ranges, had a high rate of fire and was reliable. It fired the 7.62 X 25mm Soviet Pistol round from a 71 round drum, the Soviet idea for these weapons was that it was easier to use then a rifle and thats why they used so many, they needed a weapon that could spray the enemy with fire.
DP 1928.
The DP 1928 was a pretty good light machine gun, it was reliable, relativelly light and fired a big and powerful round. It did not have a rate of fire anywhere near that of the MG 42 but it worked and worked well, it was fed from a 47 round drum.
Tokarev TT 33.
This pistol had no special features, no major advancements and no safety switch, but it fired the powerful 7.62mm Soviet pistol round and had an 8 round magazine and was made in stagering numbers, it is a very reliable pistol.
Russian Grenades.
Russian grenades were fragmented. When they exploded they sent shards of shrapnel through the air. The grenades were a feared weapon at alose range, however their initial blast was not as powerful as German grenades.
Standard issue knife. We all know what this is used for.
Smoke grenades.
Perfect for concealing your group's movements. Throw a number of smoke grenades and a dense cloud forms before you, hiding you and your men from the enemy guns. Should the enemy be laying a smoke screen, the best tactic is to fire directly into the cloud. When the cloud settles, you may see a pile of enemy bodies.
