Release notes

This is the demo version of Blitzkrieg:1941, a single-player mod for Unreal Tournament. The events in this demo happen during one day in August 1941, when you as a German sergeant join the assault on the Eastern Front. Before the real battles you must complete a small tutorial level.

System requirements

The demo version of Blitzkrieg:1941 has the same system requirements as Unreal Tournament, and also requires additional 90Mb of free HD space.

Installation (PC)

The installation procedure is very simple:
1. Uncompress the zip file
2. Run 1941setup.exe

Blitzkrieg:1941 uses the Unreal UMOD-installer to install the add-on. However, before that, setup runs a small configuration program in which you can create a shortcut to desktop / start menu (the only way to play the game!) and enable save games for Unreal Tournament and 1941.

If you have problems with the 1941 setup program or don't want to add a shortcut, you can run the addon with this command line in the UT System directory after running the UMOD-installer: "UnrealTournament INI=Jatkosota.ini"

Installation (Mac)

1. Uncompress the zip file
2. Install the UMOD file
3. Take a backup of the original UnrealTournament.ini file in the UnrealTournament\System directory.
4. Change the following lines in the original UnrealTournament.ini and then run the game:

[URL]
Map=JS_Intro.unr
LocalMap=JS_Intro.unr
Class=Jatkosota.JS_Player

[Engine.Engine]
Console=Jatkosota.JS_Console

Uninstalling the mod

Simply run setup.exe in your UnrealTournament\System directory.

Gameplay notes

- Blitzkrieg:1941 uses a separate INI file which means that the hardware configuration window appears the first time you run the game.

- 800x600 display mode is recommended in this demo.

- When playing the game for the first time, configure the keys from the keyboard menu (Main Menu > Options > Customize Controls).

- In Audio/Video options, there's a feature called "MCUTS" which improves the framerate by displaying far-away actors as sprites instead of polygons. For slower machines, it's recommended that you keep this feature on. You can also change the MCUTS drawing distance and update frequency.

- Besides the inventory mode, you can switch weapons with number keys 1 to 0

- Special-key reference:

Toggle Walk/Run Changes between walk and run modes when standing, locks to prone when ducking
