================================================================ Title : The Chromatic Dragons Filename : dragon2.qme Author : Dylan Brooks, Model from Vengeance of the Lone Gunman Email Address : Draco9131@aol.com Description : I've noticed a lot of people out in the Quake world seem to be interested in RPGs too - like me. I'm sure all you people loved The Lone Gunmen's dragon, but felt something was...missing. ::sigh::, you said. Another person who just sticks with a simple, fire-breathing dragon...Ah, well.. NO MORE!!! This is my first attempt at a Quake monster. Since I have no skill at model-creation (you can see my pitiful attempt in the death sequence), I have used the base model from TLG's dragon. This is based upon that. I just made the other dragon types, and wrote most (the ai and the cloud are all I didn't) of the code. There's a bit more here than just new monsters. I have written burn code, acid code (kinda like the burn, but easier :-) ), modified the monster's ai_whatevers so that they also burn, and I drew the skins, from TLG's base (aren't color replace tools handy?). There's also (really bad??) freezing code, and probably some other stuff I did too late at night to remember now. Thanks go to: TLG, for the model and the AI TSR, for the many memories this is based on Id , for such an incredibly cool game and the sounds from Hexen Patrick Martin, for writing the cloud code...it looks awesome! For those of you who will use these in levels: There are five new monsters. monster_rdragon (The red dragon, breathes fire) monster_wdragon (White, breathes frost) monster_bdragon (Black, breathes acid) monster_gdragon (Green, breathes clouds of poisonous gas) monster_bluedrag (Blue, breathes lightning like the shambler) I haven't had any opportunity to test these with multiplayer, but I don't see any reason it wouldn't work, assuming everything is set up correctly. If there is anyone out there with model-creation skills, patience, and the desire to help a person with big ideas but without the neccesary skill to carry them out, please contact me about making models for me. Current ideas of mine include a Balrog (a huge demon-like thing, with wings and a big whip - from Tolkien fame), a beholder (much like the cacodemon of Doom, but with 11 eyes and a different power emenating from each), and elementals (powerful creatures made up of earth, air, fire or water). I could go on for days about ideas I've had. Just contact me if you're interested. ================================================================ * Play Information * Single Player : Yes Cooperative : Untested Deathmatch : No Difficulty Settings : Yes New Sounds : Yes New Graphics : As in textures? New Demos : No New Models : Uh, well kinda QuakeC Patches : Yes...monsters aren't much good w/out * Construction * Base : TLG's Dragon Beta (the one on cdrom.com) Editor(s) used : QuakeMap 2.8, then the various v3bx's he's made lately Known Bugs : --they sometimes decide to ignore walls..don't argue with a dragon when it's decided something --Uh, the level's pretty bad - It's my first. There are obvious flaws with it, like the joints where the walls are put together, water showing in the pool, that sort of thing. Also, there were 60 (I think) point off plane occurences when I compiled it w/QBSP256. I dunno, it still ran for me. Build Time : A few weeks, since this my first patch - for any game Comments : Just hit the GO! button. You'll be in a simple level with a pool and each dragon.
