18/05/98 ================================================================ Title : Qwango Filename : qwango.bsp Author : Brian Morgan (Duley) Email Address : bmorgan@ns.sympatico.ca Description : Quake 2 DM level made from the ground up. I used Dwango 5, map 01 for Doom 2 as the base for this level. Additional Credits to : Aikman, for compiling probably the best DM level for Doom 2 that I played. The copy of Dwango 5 that I had did not have a text file with more info, or I'd include Aikman's full name. Redwood, for reminding how fun this level really was. Id, for making great games. Compile machine : P166 MMX w/ 32MB RAM QBSP3 Time : 20 seconds VIS3 (-level 4) Time : 261 seconds Qrad3 (-extra) Time : 1313 seconds * Other Info * Generally, I don't like to do conversions of levels from other games. However, I wanted a small level I could play with my daughter at home, and I had fond memories of this level from my Doom2 days. This level is pretty much a straight conversion. There are no new rooms, although there are a few new ledges you can make use of if you like to Rocket Jump. The dimensions are roughly the same, although maybe a bit bigger. If it seems like there is a lot of hardware available for use in this level, there is. However, I cut down on the number of weapons from what was available in the Dwango version. You may also remember a BFG in the Dwango version, but Quake 2's version of the BFG is just too powerful for this small map. Actually, I'm not a fan of the Quake 2 BFG in any DM map. (Doesn't stop me from using it if it's there though.) Substituted a Railgun for the BFG, but no ammo for it, so you'll only have a few shots with it till you die, so make them count. Anyway, if you're a Doom2 fan, I hope this brings back pleasant memories. * COPYRIGHT NOTICES and PERMISSIONS * Considering that I ripped the idea for this level off of someone else's Doom2 map, a copyright seems rather odd; but I always like to include a copyright to prevent someone like Actura from stealing the level and putting it on a CD, and making money off my work.
